Devon Tarby is a Boston native, acclaimed bartender, and partner at Proprietors LLC and Death & Co Los Angeles. She is one of the leading faces in the bar industry shaping the future of the cocktail scene. Devon believes that everything is meant for her continuous entertainment. At present, this takes the form of creating and overseeing beverage programs, developing new cocktail recipes, studying flavor & aroma, and bar education at Proprietors LLC.  Her book, “Cocktail Codex”, written in collaboration with fellow Proprietors partners, Alex Day, David Kaplan, Nick Fauchald, broke new ground when it took home the 2019 Book of the Year award at the James Beard awards, the first-ever for a beverage-focused publication. “Cocktail Codex,” which deconstructs six cocktails from multiple perspectives, also received the 2019 “Best New Cocktail Book” Spirited Award at Tales of the Cocktail conference. Outside of the cocktail scene, Devon is an avid music lover, her undergrad background in audio engineering and music industry plays an influential role in how she approaches her craft.
